About Dr. Steve Conway
Helping organizations strengthen leadership capability.
Leadership has never been easy.
Today’s leaders are expected to navigate uncertainty, build trust, communicate with clarity, develop other people, make sound decisions under pressure, and lead organizations through constant change. While these expectations continue to grow, few leaders receive the intentional development needed to strengthen the capabilities that matter most.
That’s where Executive EQ comes in.
For nearly 35 years, I have worked with leaders as an executive coach, organizational consultant, facilitator, leadership educator, and trusted advisor. Throughout my career, I have held leadership roles including Vice President, Managing Director, Director, and Board Chair, giving me firsthand experience of the opportunities and challenges leaders face every day.
Those experiences have shaped a practical approach to executive coaching and leadership development that is grounded in evidence, informed by experience, and focused on helping leaders become more effective where it matters most—in their everyday leadership.
Leadership Development Grounded in Experience
I’ve coached leaders, but I’ve also led organizations.
I’ve managed teams, developed strategy, made difficult decisions, navigated organizational change, built leadership teams, and been accountable for organizational performance. I understand the competing priorities, uncertainty, and responsibility that accompany leadership because I’ve experienced them firsthand.
Leadership isn’t developed through theory alone.
It develops by reflecting on experience, challenging assumptions, learning continuously, and intentionally strengthening the capabilities that allow leaders—and the people around them—to succeed.
That perspective shapes every executive coaching engagement, keynote presentation, leadership workshop, and executive development program I deliver.
My Approach
Executive coaching is not about providing answers.
It’s about helping leaders ask better questions, think more clearly, strengthen their judgement, and lead more effectively.
Experience alone does not necessarily produce better leaders. Growth comes from intentional reflection, honest feedback, constructive challenge, and a willingness to continue learning.
Executive coaching provides leaders with something that is often difficult to find within busy organizations:
- Time to think strategically
- Objective, evidence-informed feedback
- Constructive challenge
- A confidential environment for reflection
- Practical strategies that strengthen leadership capability
Every engagement is tailored to the individual leader, their organizational context, and the outcomes they are working to achieve.
My role is not to tell leaders how to lead.
My role is to help them strengthen the leadership capabilities that allow them to make better decisions, communicate more effectively, build stronger relationships, and lead with greater confidence and effectiveness.

Why Executive EQ?
Organizations don’t invest in executive coaching because leaders lack ability.
They invest because leadership capability can always be strengthened.
The most effective leaders remain curious. They seek feedback, challenge their assumptions, continue developing their judgement, and understand that leadership is an ongoing process rather than a destination.
Executive EQ combines evidence-informed coaching with practical leadership experience to help leaders strengthen judgement, communicate with greater clarity, build trust, navigate complexity, and develop the leadership capability their organizations depend upon.
Because stronger leaders create stronger organizations.
